I looked up at the sky and saw
all the constellations had changed
But the strangest thing about it all
was that none of it was that strange
So I asked the stars, can you hear me from here
I think I have something to say
One twinkled and laughed, and said don't be daft
We're millions of miles away
But I considered some theories, and made some queries
I mean, why act now this way?
You've been still for at least a million years
Why not a million and a day?
And for a while, the star did nothing but smile
and glimmered softly in the distance
But when it next spoke, the world awoke
and shook under the voice of all existence
Every syllable weighed a thousand years
every word, a galaxy's creation
I heard the birth of the universe
in a sigh that was too soft to mention
We are all there is and ever was
yet as far and wide as We extend
We are still bound by the rules that are
both our beginnings as well as our end
For We only receive, We cannot perceive
Over ourselves We have no control
Our infinite size and magnitude
pale next to this one little soul
So you ask, what made us move?
But We know that you know the answer
To anyone else, there stands Orion
and Scorpius, Aquila and Cancer
all the constellations had changed
But the strangest thing about it all
was that none of it was that strange
So I asked the stars, can you hear me from here
I think I have something to say
